Homeopathy

Have you wondered why we see many health problems today that were unheard of a hundred years ago? Many of these are a direct result of radical changes in our diets and exposure to environmental toxins, including metals, organophosphates and electromagnetic radiation.

I can offer you offer you homeopathy and more. There are specialized laboratory tests that can be arranged to measure how efficiently your body is functioning. These tests are more sensitive than those currently available by your GP which are generally designed to diagnose disease. For example, many people have low levels of thyroid hormones that are undetected by the TSH and T4 tests or have blood sugar imbalances but have not developed diabetes.

Disease is the end result of many years of impaired function and holistic medicine empowers you to take control of your health.

Who discovered homeopathy?

Homeopathy was discovered by a German Doctor called Samuel Hahnemann in the18th century who was very frustrated with his inability to heal some of his patients and disillusioned with the practices occurring in the medical profession at the time. His theory is based on ancient greek understanding of ‘like cures like’.

Colocynth – this is a remedy that may be helpful for treating menstrual cramps

How does it work?

Homeopathy is based on the principle of ‘like cures like’. For example, if you experience some sudden swelling, puffiness and discomfort from an insect bite a remedy that may help you is Apis 6c which is made from bee sting or perhaps if you are suffering from watery eyes and cannot tolerate the bright sunlight you may well benefit from Allium cepa 30 which is made from onions.

How is a remedy or combination of remedies chosen?

  • The treatment plan is as unique as the individual person!
  • By carefully matching the individual symptoms taking in to account the whole person their emotional and physical symptoms.

How many remedies are there to choose from?

  • There is not one remedy for a particular ailment or condition, infact, there are over 3,000 remedies to choose from depending on the individual.
  • Homeopathy is a very complex method of treating and takes in to account the patient’s whole picture including inherited conditions one may be susceptible to.

Homeopathy has proved very effective for

  • treating many patients who have been unsuccessfully treated by the NHS
  • those with complex chronic problems
  • conditions that are difficult to label
  • conditions associated with serious side effects

Remember, Homeopathy can be complementary to and integrated with conventional treatment. This means that as Homeopaths we would work alongside your GP prescribed treatment and support it until such time when you may be able to reduce the medication you are taking.

How does Homeopathy differ from medication described by your GP/Specialist?

  • Homeopathy works on an energetic and vibrational level and the remedies stimulate your body’s healing mechanism to heal itself. It stimulates what we call the Vital Force, and it is this Vital Force which then directs the action of the remedy upon the person.
  • Homeopathy does not mask the condition or suppress it in any way. For example, if you stopped taking the medicine prescribed by your GP would your symptoms return? If the answer is yes, then the root of the problem is still there.
  • Homeopaths will look at the cause of the condition or what might be stopping you from getting better, known as obstacles to cure. Could it be some sort of deficiency in the body or toxicity? Could it be due to an injury? Quite often the root of illness is an emotional one so what life experiences could have contributed to your condition?

HOMEOPATHS LOOK AT THE WHOLE PERSON and this process can take time. After all in most cases the development of disease in the body takes time to manifest itself therefore kick starting the body to heal itself will take time too!

What to expect at your first appointment

For a client that wishes to consider Homeopathy, I will first of all ask you to complete and return a questionnaire to me that analyses how efficiently each system of your body is functioning at the moment. I will take your whole case which in the first appointment may take up to 1 ½ hours. I will ask you questions about your lifestyle, favourite foods, life experiences you may have been through, health conditions of your family members, the symptoms you are experiencing at the moment and the medication you are on, if any. Of course, it is entirely up to you how much to tell me, but the more detailed picture I have of you the more accurately I will be able to prescribe.

I will then prepare a personalised programme  and send this to you in a folder containing the results of your questionnaire analysis, information relevant to your health, dietary advice and your prescription. Your prescription may include Homeopathic remedies, flower essences, tinctures and tissue salts.

Laboratory Tests

It may be helpful to utilise laboratory tests to find out more about what is going on. These may include a Hair Mineral Analysis, blood, urine, saliva or a stool test. Most of these tests can be undertaken from the comfort of your own home and results are available within 1-3 weeks.

Homeopathic remedies

The price of the homeopathic remedy is included in the appointment charge

Nutritional Supplements

Additional nutritional supplements may be recommended for which there is a separate charge.

Follow-up appointments will be within 4-6 weeks and will take approximately 45 minutes. Depending on your situation, I may see you sooner for the first two or three appointments. As your health improves the gap in appointments will become longer.

The remedies are usually in the form of white pills or liquid form. They are very palatable and are very much welcomed by children. The remedies are made up of either plants, flowers, minerals, metals, animal matter or allergen sources. The process for producing remedies from these substances is a lengthy one using a process called ‘potentisation’ and one in which there is very little of the original crude substance left. These substances have been used medicinally for many centuries. My experience is that not only does the patient’s symptoms improve but their overall general wellbeing improves also.

Allergy testing

Today we see many health problems unknown a hundred years ago, which are a direct result of radical changes in our diets and exposure to environmental toxins, including metals, organophosphates and electromagnetic radiation.

Toxicity in the body is often a cause for a person to become hypersensitive to an allergen such as wheat, gluten, washing powder, a particular tree, grass or flower pollen. The muscle response test will assist with identifying exactly what the allergen is.

I may use a muscle testing technique within the consultation to assist me with identifying areas of toxicity within the body and weakened organs that may require further support. This is a completely natural and painless technique which can be done with you sitting on a chair and remaining fully clothed. There are no needles or equipment involved.

Muscle response testing enables me to identify mental, emotional, physiological, biochemical and structural imbalances and to address these with a homeopathic prescription for you to follow.
