Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life (Rei) Energy (Ki) Ki powers the motion of the universe. It is also known in other traditions as prana or chi.
It is a spiritual healing discipline and has its roots in ancient Buddhist teachings. The founder of Reiki, Dr Mikao Usui, spent many years seeking the knowledge of healing and found information on Reiki in Sanskrit texts. He received information on Reiki through a vision when meditating on a Japanese mountain.
‘A practice that relieves not only the external, physical sufferings, but the internal sufferings and obscuration of human kind.’ Dr Usui
Generally speaking people are gravitating towards preventative medicine, which advocates a way of life rather than waiting for something to go wrong. People are moving away from situations that bring them in to contact with health advice that makes them feel disempowered. Reiki has been known to bring relief to a range of physical symptoms when other more conventional methods have failed. Reiki works on many levels of a person.

What happens in a Reiki session?
During the session my hands will make only gentle contact with or hover slightly above your body. The energy is transferred through my hands and the client draws as much energy as is needed at that time. As is usually the case with any form of spiritual healing your own energy system, or 'higher self', decides how much energy is transferred, and how that energy is distributed. Every treatment you will receive from me is tailored to you and your own needs at that time. During the treatment, you may experience warmth, coolness or a slight tingling sensation. Some people also see light or colours during the treatment. Still others experience only a deep sense of relaxation - or even fall asleep! These are some examples of how you may feel, but the experience of Reiki is different for everyone. You will be fully clothed for your Reiki treatment, although I will ask you to remove your shoes. Reiki does not conflict with other holistic therapies or any medications. |
